To prevent excessive discharge of the battery or battery bank used to power the Model VT-1, a Trace Engineering Model C35 load controller is installed in the lower compartment of the electronics module. The load controller disconnects from the battery when the battery voltage falls below the low-voltage disconnect setting, and reconnects when the battery voltage rises above the reconnect-voltage setting. These settings are adjustable but are usually set at 10.5 and 12.5 VDC, respectively. The load controller is also provided with an optional digital display that indicates the battery voltage, load current and load power draw. In situations where power use is critical, this provides very useful information. |
